So, I figured we could all just take this time to sit back, relax and watch some erotic video’s that might just make all the fellas watching go from six to midnight. Ladies don’t be discouraged to flick the bean to this as well.

See the rest of you assholes in the playoffs.

Meet the $72 Million Dollar Man

Brady after Super Bowl XXXVIII

ESPN.comQuarterback Tom Brady signed a four-year extension with the New England Patriots that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid player, a source close to the negotiations confirmed Thursday night.

Brady’s contract is worth $72 million and guarantees him $48.5 million, a source familiar with the deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The extension, which will be filed with the league Friday, will be added onto the final year of Brady’s contract and runs through 2014, when he will be 37. Brady, 33, has said he wants to play until he’s 40.

A deal that has been long over due to get done, is finally finished. The Patriots for the time being have made Tom Brady the highest paid player in the NFL and deservingly so. The contract talk has gone on for over a year now, and with just two days before the final season in Brady’s contract he [Brady] has allowed Pats fan to collectively exhale. Especially after hearing about Brady getting in a car accident on the same day.

Now that Brady will be around for another four years, the Pats organization better not screw Brady for four more years and not give him players to win games. Circa 2006.

Brady Offered A Contract

Boston Herald.comPatriots quarterback Tom Brady [stats] has been offered a three-year extension believed to be worth $58 million that works out to $19.3 million annually, according to sources close to the negotiation. This would be in addition to the $6.5 million dollars he’s on the books for this year.

The Herald has been reporting that there is a contract in place for Tom Brady, I think the deal isn’t as good as what Brady deserves, but hey, if the deal is singed Brady will still be around for another three years.

NFL Look-A-Likes

NFL is making clones

As I am painfully watch this weekends NFL Conf. Championship games I noticed something in one of the games which I have never thought about before. I think the NFL is cloning players, and doing a terrible job. Not only are there players in the league who look and play exactly the same but they are all on the same team.

I realized this when Austin Collie caught a touchdown pass just before the end of the first half. The Colts have two of the same player, Austin Collie and Anthony Gonzalez. They’re not the only one’s either.

There is Wes Welker and Wes Welker Jr. [Julian Eldelman] who play the same position in New England. Welker is clearly the better player, just based on the years played and the stats he has obtained. After watching Edelman this year he showed he has all the potential to be just like Welker. Not to mention Brady and Cassel have similar form and hand gestures, Cassel still has work to do to have the respect Brady has.

Other notables:
Byron Leftwhich & David Garrard (Jacksonville)
Patrick Crayton & Miles Austin, kind of (Dallas)

Painful to Watch

Kevin Garnett hobbles on injured knee

As the decade began to come to a close, Boston sports began to see a change in their dominance. The last team to win a championship was the Celtics in the 2007-08 season. When the Celts began their defense of their title everything was going swimmingly until Kevin Garnett suffered a devastating knee injury that would put him on the shelf for the rest of the season.

Tom Brady knee injury

KG’s knee injury was not the only major knee injury amongst Boston athletes. As everyone knows, there was a line forming on the local bridges in town when Tom Brady went down in the first game of the 2008 season.

After those two injuries it seemed like a fluke, something that happened just by coincidence. Then Paul Pierce had to miss a few games due to a knee infection. But the devastating blow came when Patriots stand-out Wes Welker went down with a torn ACL and MCL in a meaningless game in Houston this past Sunday.

Wes Welker after knee injury vs. Houston

Now I’m not going to argue whether Welker should have been playing or not, but instead what I am going to question, is this going to be the decade of devastating knee injuries for Boston athletes. Welker was the first to go down in 2010 but with the amount of knee injuries that have occurred in just the past year it is something to consider and keep in mind.

P.S. — Add Marc Savard to the list, after going down with a knee injury 28 seconds into the game vs. Chicago on jan 7, out 2-4 weeks with a knee strain…WTF

Patriots just like Red Sox

David Ortiz celebrating a World Series at Gillette Stadium

Through fourteen weeks of the NFL season the Patriots are 8-5 and the more I watch the team play this year the more it feels like watching the Red Sox of this past season.

The reason why I make the comparison is because both teams had a lot of talent on the team and were expected to do big things throughout the season. Both teams got off to great starts during the first half of the season, then during the second half of the season both teams were dominated by the rival and better teams (Yankees, Angels, Colts, and Saints) in the league. Both teams had bad losing streaks, Red Sox August and Patriots November. There is also the question of talent, the Patriots defense has been in question and in no surprise the Red Sox were 28 of 30 in defense efficiency, both very unlike the Championship teams for both squads from the past.

The other major question around both teams was the question of talent. Players like Ortiz, Papelbon, Varitek were question on the Sox and the Pats had question about Brady, Moss, and Thomas just to name a few from both teams.

This brings me to my next point, why are the Carolina Panthers questioning Randy Moss’ effort during the game on Sunday. Panther’s cornerback Chris Gamble and safety Chris Harris both had comment on Moss’ play sunday, Boston.com Harris said:

“I know everyone who plays against him, they can sense that. Once you get into him in the beginning of the game, he shuts it down a little bit. You get physical with him, and I don’t want to say he quits, but he kind of doesn’t run the routes the way they’re supposed to be run.”

“That’s what we wanted to do him. That’s what we did. … He’d just give up a lot … Slow down, he’s not going deep, not trying to run a route. You can tell, his body language.” This was how Gamble felt on the situation.

Now I understand where he is coming from trying to call out Moss but there is no need for it. If anyone noticed that Moss was being lazy on his routes then it should be his own teammates.

If you are looking for a pat on the back, then here you go Chris Gamble and Chris Harris. You got tough on Randy Moss early in the game and as a result the team was able to only have to single cover Moss. Yet, Wes Welker still ran all up and down the field with the ball and you lost the game. So congrats Chris Gamble and Chris Harris, you made Randy Moss ineffective in a Patriots win.

Even coach Belichick, a guy who never really has anything to say said this, in regards to the players comments about Moss 1 catch for 16 yards. “You know how I feel about stats, Stats are for losers. The final score is for winners.”

Still Best in the Division?

A frustrated Bill Belichick

So the Patriots have dropped two in a row, first time that has happened since 2006 when the team lost back to back home games (Colts, Jets) thus beginning the field turf era in Gillette Stadium. Yes, the team has looked pretty bad during this stretch of losing 3 of their last 4 games. If there is one thing that I have learned during my years watching Boston sports, if you make the postseason anything could happen.

It is obviously not helping the Patriots by losing these games because they are spoiling their chance at a first round bye and because of that there could be same result as the 2006 season, when the team lost to Indy in the AFC Championship. The Pats were a great team that season but in the end having to play three weeks in a row in the playoffs with the last two games on the road is never easy no matter who you are.

The Patriots have an easier schedule to end the season (Car, @ Buf, Jax ,@Hou) but the team is still probably going to have to run the table to finish 11-5. They could have afforded to drop one of those games had they beaten the Dolphins last weekend.

Going into this season I thought the Pats were a lock for the Super Bowl, and do not get me wrong, I am not counting them out by any chance, I mean they are the Patriots. I’m just not sold on the team having to play three playoff games just to reach the Super Bowl, games that will include having to knock off two higher seeded teams to reach the Super Bowl. Granted a lot can change in the last 4 weeks of the season. As of now I say the Pats are eliminated in the 2nd round or AFC Champ. of this year’s playoffs.

Why was this play not run!?!?!?!?

I know people are tired of hearing about this play, especially since there is plenty to talk about after the Patriots last debacle in New Orleans. But on the 4 & 2 play in Indy why did the Pats not run the Brady fake, direct snap to Faulk. I’m fine with the Pats going for it, the D was gassed and when it comes down to it, any coach would choose Tom Brady on 4 & 2 over their D.

The last time I remember the direct snap to Faulk play run was the AFC Divisional round in San Diego for a 2pt conversion. It is a play that since I have seen the Patriots run it, no one has ever stopped them. I just think it would have made sense for them to run that play, considering Faulk was the one who Brady threw the ball to.

As for the team and the rest of their season, they had a tough loss to the Saints and let’s be fair, if there is an 18-0 Saints v. 18-0 Colts in the Super Bowl the Saints would blow out the Colts. They are a great team. As for the Pats it was a tough one Brady still looked a little shaky, just as it seemed he has finally found his touch but maybe it may not be until next year that he is back to 100%.

If I have learned anything from not only watching the Patriots but all Boston teams is all that matters is winning the championship. It does not matter how the team gets there, as long as they get there. If the Pats fall and can only make the playoffs as a wild card team, barring injury they are still a Super Bowl caliber team. With a semi-easy schedule to finish the year, the Pats should finish a respectable 12-4 with a home game in the first round.

Don’t forget that the Pats D has only let up 20pts or less in every game except two (Indy, NO) and how interesting would it be if the Pats had the potential chance of having a second chance to knock off both undefeated teams the Colts and Saints.

Celtics Back in Action

celtsTonight, in many ways, is similar to what the fans of Boston experience just over a month ago, when Tom Brady made his return to the Patriots. Kevin Garnett will be stepping foot on the floor for his first regular season game since a February 19th loss to Utah.

The team is looking to pick up what they did not finish last season. Boston was 44-12 when they lost Garnett last season. The team finished with a 62-20 record, a record that is probally a few games worse than if Garnett wouldn’t have gotten hurt.

The team had key signings in the off season, the major one being Rasheed Wallace. Wallace will play a major role in helping contribute to the Big Three. He will contribute not only on the score sheet but for Wallace to come off the bench and eat up some time will help Doc Rivers to rest his starters to keep them fresh. One other signing was Marquis Daniels, a guy the team is hoping will have a James Posey type effect on the court.

My original prediction, I made back on July 11, was the Celtics would finish first in the Eastern Conference with a 70-12 record. It will not be easy but if Garnett looks anything like he did two seasons ago, with the addition of Rasheed Wallace should make this team just dominant. Regardless of the final record as long as the team has a playoff spot, there is no reason the Celts should not make their way to the Finals.

Seymour Traded.

Today the New England Patriots sent their 8 year veteran, Richard Seymour to the Oakland Raiders. Seymour was traded for Oakland’s first round draft pick in the 2011 draft. The Patriots will be replacing Seymour’s spot on the roster with former Steelers first round pick Kendall Simmons. Although Seymour was a major player in the Patriots defense during their championship seasons, it was a move that needed to be made. One problem is the Patriots defense is an aging one, along with Seymour, the Pats have also gotten rid of or lost to retirement, Vrabel, Harrison, and Bruschi. Another reason the move had to be made is because Vince Wilfork need a contract extension and Brady will also need a new contract in 2 years. By letting the older Seymour go it opens alot of cap room to give the money to Wilfork and Brady. Then there is the draft pick, there is a chance depending on the Raiders season in 2010 the Pats could have a top 5 draft pick. Belichick has never been a fan of the first round picks because he does not believe in paying a rookie all the money the top 10 picks make. I wouldnt be surprised if he trades the pick at the draft for 2 second round picks or a second and third round pick.
