Nowhere to go, But Up

Tiger Woods

Just like an article I wrote a few month’s back about David Ortiz hitting rock bottom. The idea behind the Ortiz article was that a player cannot turn around their performance until they have hit rock bottom. Another player who has fallen into a similar situation as David Ortiz, is Tiger Woods.

Woods was only able to best Henrik Stenson on the leaderboard this weekend at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club, a course Tiger has dominated in the past, Woods finished 18-over par on the weekend. Woods recored the worst score of his professional career on Sunday by shooting a 77.

It is clear that Tiger has hit rock bottom, like how when commenting on Ortiz hitting rock bottom, since May 5, Ortiz has gone .281, 23 HR, 69 RBI since that day. With the final major of the season coming up this weekend, it would be a great stage for Tiger to steal the show. It will be clear after the first round, defiantly the second round, if Tiger will be in contention for a win this weekend.

Today Champion is spelt Oosthuizen

Louis Oosthuizen crosses bridge on 18 at St. Andrew's

Louis Oosthuizen finished -16, adding his name to the record books by winning the 2010 British Open Championship at the home of golf, St. Andrew’s. Oosthuizen took the lead on the 7th hole during the second round of play on Friday and never looked back. Once he had the lead he built on it and ended up winning the tournament by 7 shots.

Oosthuizen played just tremendous golf all week and “…he was hitting the ball on a string” Tiger Woods said to Tom Rinaldi in an interview after he finished his round today. Oosthuizen was fearless and it could not have been better exemplified when he pulled out his driver on the 13th hole and bombed the ball down by the green. This forced Paul Casey to take out his driver and he ended up in the bushes and made a 7 on the hole, essentially sealing the deal for Oosthuizen.

Thank You

The other day I posted a comment about Tiger Woods and the Masters. I pretty much was saying how I was interested in the crowd reaction at the Masters. I was expecting one drunk asshole to yell something after one of Tigers shots. Instead we got this…

PRICELESS…The Masters is a no fly zone and yet someone found a way to fly over the course during play. AWESOME.

As for the golf, Jim Nantz said it best as Tiger walked off the 18th hole at Augusta today. He said something along the lines of “since the news broke late in the night after Thanksgiving and we were all filled-in with information about Tiger’s personal life. Even though all of this is going on it still does not show between the ropes and he was dealing with this and winning championships before this news broke.”

He is absolutely correct. No one had any idea of Tiger’s lifestyle and yet, he still dominated the golf world. He proved it again in his first round, shooting -4.

I Don’t Get It

This is the new Nike ad, released just before the the Masters begins today. The commercial features Tiger Woods and the voice of his father, Earl.

It must be me because I just don’t get it?? I don not understand the third or fourth word in the commercial and what exactly is he talking about?? It sounds like Nike is speaking for Tiger’s dad saying, “what the fuck were you thinking, let us know.?”

Tiger’s Back!!

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has apparently resurfaced in a sex rehab facility in Mississippi. This is still an interesting story only because of Tiger’s lack of saying anything to the media. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. By not saying anything it leaves people to come out and say what ever they think because Tiger is not denying anything.

Now if Tiger would have just said something in the week within the time this happened, life might be a little easier on him. I know his face was all messed up from getting his ass kicked by his wife.

When Tiger does address the media for the first time, he should say he will donate all of his money this year to charity, every dime he makes. People will love him and all of the sponsors who pulled their sponsorship from Tiger will not even be able to ride his coat tails if he does dontate money.

Tiger

I’m a huge Tiger fan but as I saw all the updates on tv about him not making the cut at the British Open, I started thinking…what if he is past his prime. Now I know it sounds crazy because your average 75 year old, 32 handicapper, has been playing for 45 or 50 years. So after not making the cut in the British Open, Tiger royally choked in the PGA Championship by lipping out numerous putts, missing the green on approach shots, and also hitting some poor iron shots. He was 0 for majors in 2009 and I think after suffering the set back from his knee surgery a year ago Tiger might finally be coming back to earth with the rest of the golfers in the PGA.
