The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Closing in on the 24-hour mark until the MLB trade deadline and NFL training camps underway, this is by far the most exciting time of the year. Every sports website is filled with the latest MLB rumors along with all the NFL predictions for the upcoming season.

Baseball has already had its share of big moves, the biggest so far being Roy Oswalt moving to Philadelphia. This begs the question will the Phillies (2.5 GB of Atlanta) be in the mist of making yet a third World Series run in as many years? The Phillies are slowly truing into the Yankees of the National League. If they make the playoffs, sure they have just as good a shot as the other three teams but this season could be different. The top two teams in each division all still are in a fight for the division and the wild card race is even tighter.

The White Sox are making moves at the deadline like they do every year. Last year the made the acquisition of Alex Rios (off waviers) and now this season they are on the verge of trading Edwin Jackson according to multiple sources.

With the trade deadline around 3 p.m EST tomorrow there will probably be many deals that are sent to the commissioners office around that time.

Now for the NFL, in what could be the final season before a potential lockout, it is still as exciting as every other season. But like every training camp there are always big stories and rumors around each team. This season there is the contract discussions of Brady, Manning, Brees and other players. Terrell Owens was finally signed by a team (Cincinnati) and the Ravens might have just lost all hope at a AFC North division title with a recent injury to starting cornerback Domonique Foxworth.
