B’s Split Home and Home With Toronto

Team 1 2 3 SO F
BOSTON 0 1 1 1 3
TORONTO 0 2 0 0 2

Line shuffling, wearing white uni’s at home, nothing about Monday nights game against Toronto seemed right. Which is the exact reason it felt like it could also be a turning point in the season. Although the B’s went down early, they battled back for a hard fought shootout win 3-2 over the Maple Leafs.

Toronto put the first two goals on the board, scoring twice over a span of 5:57 in the second period. At this point in the game Boston had carried play the entire time and the air just left the building and finally a good effort put forth by the Bruins would just be wasted.

But a border line miracle happened. Milan Lucic (5) scored his first goal in sixteen games. He was give a cross-ice pass from Peverley and Lucic actually picked up his feet and used this thing called speed to beat the defenseman and score a breakaway goal.

The game was still 2-1 in the third period when the B’s were gifted their second goal. Teach me how to Dougie followed the play into the zone and took the puck from behind the net dishing it to Bergeron (9) in front and Dion Phaneuf had the best seat in the house as he stood there and watched Bergy put a back hander past Reimer.

The B’s scored on each of their first two attempts in the shootout and Rask made two of three saves in the shootout sealing the victory.

The Bruins have now played the same amount of games and are tied atop the Northeast Division with hated rival Montreal, who will be in town tomorrow night for what should be the game of the season.
