First Country Concert of the Year

Its Friday and what better way to get lubed up for tomorrow’s Bruins game than going to see a country show tonight. Luke Bryan, FGL. Bring it.

Sidney Crosby Diving School

There is no one player I hate more in the entire NHL than Sidney Crosby. And after this series, regardless of the outcome I will probably hate him more. For all of his flopping and crying to the refs.

B’s/Penguins, Early Thoughts

The series has not begun yet but there is so much to take from the series.

In what was already a schedule shortened season, the Bruins lost out on a chance to add Jarome Iginla to the roster. “Rumors” were he had accepted a trade to Boston then in the wee hours of the morning changed his mind and a deal was put together which sent him to the Penguins…as we all know.

Another interesting note, not that it really has anything to do with the series. But with the recent Bruins call ups of Krug and Bartkowski, it became the demise of the Providence Bruins. The baby B’s led (GUESS WHO) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 3-0 in the series before dropping their next four games and losing the series in the Conference Semi-Finals.

This season the Bruins and Penguins met three times, with the Pens taking all three games. The Pens also played all three contest without Evgeni Malkin.

Happy Memorial Day

Thanks to all of those who serve and keep our country safe. Cheers.

Tuukka Can’t Stand Up, B’s Drop Game 4 in OT

B’s Come Back in Third, Steal Game Three

Game 3, A Statement Game at MSG

The Bruins have a chance to extend their series lead to 3-0 over the Rangers and essentially bury their hopes of going to the Conference Finals.

Last series the Rangers went home down 0-2 and won both games at MSG in a 7 game comeback to make their way into the current round against the Bruins.

From the NESN.com Bruins blog:

1:15 p.m.: The Bruins wrapped up an optional morning skate at Madison Square Garden just a little while ago, and B’s coach Claude Julien offered an update on some of the injured defensemen. Julien said he’d be surprised if Dennis Seidenberg played in Game 3, as the veteran D-man remains out with a lower-body injury. Seidenberg appears to be progressing, but Julien says it looks like Seidenberg isn’t quite there yet.

Wade Redden remains day-to-day for the Bruins as well. He’s been out since the middle of the first-round series with Toronto, and while he’s also progressing in his recovery, his status for Wednesday night is still up in the air.

B’s Handle Rangers, Lundqvist in Game 2

Team 1 2 3 F
BOSTON 1 2 2 5
NY RANGERS 1 1 0 2

For the first two games of this Semi-Final series, the Bruins have proven to be the better team. Now, we cannot get too ahead of ourselves because for two games in Toronto the Bruins looked like the had control of the series. There is still a lot of hockey left to be played in this series and anything can happen.

The Bruins showed resiliency yesterday against the Rangers, which for the Bruins was not a common part of their game all season.

Boston scored 5:28 into the game, when Torey Krug (2) had some fancy footwork with the puck to put the pass onto the stick and beat Lundqvist between the wickets. The lead was short lived as 2:32 later Ryan Callahan made Tuukka Rask flop out of his jock strap and beat him with a move to the far side.

The two teams started the second period tied 1-1.

More Krug footwork at the blue line to keep the play alive in the Rangers zone, Krug put a shot towards goal and Gregory Campbell (1) roofed a backhander past Lundqvist putting the B’s back on top, just 2:24 into the second. But like the Bruins first goal, Rick Nash answered the call :56 seconds later.

Johnny Boychuk (3) fired a wrist shot from the tops of the circles to beat Lundqvist with 7:52 remaining in the second period. The goal put the B’s up 3-2 and there was no turning back.

In an almost identical play on how Marchand scored in OT of game one, he slid the puck past Lundqvist just :26 seconds into the third period. Milan Lucic (3) put the final nail in the coffin picking up a rebound on the doorstep and sliding it home for the fifth and final Bruins goal.

Seconds after Lucic made the score 5-2, Derek Dorsett and Gregory Campbell exchanged pleasantries.

Rask was up to the challenge as always, making 35 saves in the winning effort.

The two teams will pack up their stuff and head to the Big Apple for game three Tuesday night at 7:30pm from MSG.
