…was the roar coming down from the rafters in the TD Garden as the crowd sang along with the in-stadium organ in the Bruins 2-1 win. From just watching the game on TV, I felt that if I could have chosen any Boston sporting event to go in my life time it would have been, this game 3 of the Eastern Conf. Qtr. Finals. It sounds crazy but hear me out.
It was the first time all season Jack Edwards didn’t bitch off the top of the broadcast about how the Bruins constantly have a late arriving crowd. The reason why, is because it was Patriots Day in Boston, it might have well as been St. Patty’s Day.
Patriot’s Day in Boston consists of the Boston Marathon, an 11 a.m. Red Sox game, and if the fan’s are lucky the Bruins or Celtics are still around and kickin’. So to sum up, the Bruins fan base consisted of loud, drunken, obnoxious fans who have been drinking since 8 a.m. and they went and staked out a part of the Marathon route. Just to see Kiprono Cheruiyot blow by them, as he finished the race in a cool 2 hrs. 5 min. Or there were the fan’s who have been drinking since 8 a.m. and they went and watched the Sox get spanked and drop their fifth straight. So because of the previously stated, these fan’s kept drinking to try to soften the harsh reality of the long Sox season ahead, and to pre-game for the B’s.
This game had everything, from the drop of the puck it was like Slap Shot on the ice during the game. Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuck dropped Sabres forward Matt Ellis at the Buffalo blue line. All sorts of fighting, just like the rest of the games in this series, and the intensity bar will just be moved higher and higher as the series continues.
