Another game that just wasn’t in the cards for the Bruins. The B’s outshot Minnesota 48-29 but Niklas Backstrom was up to the task on every shot as he led the Wild to a 2-0 victory.
The Bruins seemed to control the pace of play throughout the entire game especially in the third period when they outshot the Wild 22-3. But when it came down the important part of putting the puck into the net that was the one thing the Wild did better.
Just like Friday nights game the B’s played a scoreless first period. But Char Rau scored his second career goal mid-way through the second period which ultimately proved to be the winning goal. Teammate Matt Cullen score again for the Wild 5:15 after Rau to seal the game for Minnesota.
Shawn Thornton did his part trying to get his team fired up at the start of the third period when he dropped the mitts with Matt Kassian.
The B’s are off until Wednesday when they play the fourth game of the road trip in St. Louis against a red-hot Blues team, who are third in the Conference in points but fourth in the standings.
