The football regular season is upon us, and after the Patriots play the Giants tonight every game will count from there-on-out. So what should we expect from these Patriots in the upcoming season, will they make the playoffs? Who will step up? and like the Bruins, how will the Pats come back after a rough exit from the playoffs last year.
After already losing two players, Ty Warren & Leigh Bodden, to season-ending injuries the Pats defense is my major question going into the season. The defense has a lot of young players who could be in starting roles during week one and the quickness of maturity will determine the strength of this teams defense. The defense will make some timely plays and but not enough to put this team over the top. Players like Jerrod Mayo, Ron Brace, Patrick Chung among are others are guys who are going to need to make an immediate impact this season.
As for the offense, there is a potential for Tom Brady to have a lot of weapons. There is the chance the Pats could put, Moss, Welker, Gronkowski, Hernandez, Edelman and Tate on the field at the same time. If the rookies [Gronkowski and Hernandez] can play solid tight end and make plays when Brady gives them the ball, the team could put up a lot of points.
If the offense if putting up a lot of points, one would think the team would win a lot. With what is a questionable defense the Pats could be in for a lot of shoot-out type games, even a game like the Lions on Thanksgiving Day could end up being a 34-28 thriller.
Another thing to think about, the team that everyone should be watching is the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are going to be the deciding team on who wins the AFC East. The Pats, Jets, and Dolphins all have the Bills as two must win games because with the likely-hood of the three other teams splitting their two games, if the Pats were to split or get swept by the Bills that alone could mean the season.
